Rolondo for iPhone

I’m super psyched about Rolondo because 1) I want to play it on my iPhone and 2) because it uses a very hand-drawn looking environments and characters. I love how much personality can be imbued with just a face drawn on a circle. I would jump at the chance to do art for a game like this.

The hand drawn or painted theme has popped up from time to time in video gaming history - Okami, Paper Mario and hmmm....got any others?

Yoshi's Story on the N64 has beautiful levels with scrapbook-style cut-out art that are ostensibly pages in a pop-up book. They don't do enough with the aesthetic. It took the latest Paper Mario to really play with the medium-inside-the-medium.

Oh yea I remember that! As I search more for the hand drawn aesthetic in video games, I'm finding some really neat ideas for blog posts. More to come on that, but another one with the drawn look is linerider of course :)
